Psychic Misses Start Of Theft, Tax Evasion Trial

The Associated Press/October 17, 2011

Boulder, Colorado -- A self-described Colorado psychic accused of stealing nearly $300,000 from clients has been hospitalized and failed to show up for her trial on theft and tax-evasion charges.

Fifty-five-year-old Nancy Marks of Lafayette was to go on trial Monday. Her attorney says Marks has high blood pressure, shortness of breath and nausea.

The Boulder Daily Camera reports the judge issued an arrest warrant but stayed it until Oct. 25, when he plans a hearing to determine if Marks has legitimate medical problems.

Prosecutors say she's stalling.

Seven people told police that Marks told them she needed their cash to "draw out the bad energy" and their credit card numbers to see how frequently the numeral 6 appeared.

Police say Marks kept the cash and used the credit cards.
