A California woman who claims to be a psychic has Brevard County's criminal justice system in her future after her arrest on charges of exploitation of the elderly, scheme to defraud and criminal use of personal identification.

Authorities said Adams had befriended a Brevard resident who traveled to California in the spring of 2013. Adams kept in contact with the victim through both phone conversations and text messages.

Seizing upon the victim's vulnerabilities, Adams was able to exploit the money from the victim by promising she could win money, lose weight and remove a "spell" on her children.

The victim and the victim's family came to police and made a report, leading to an investigation by the Brevard County Sheriff's Office Economics Crime Task Force. The task force, along with the assistance of the Los Angeles County Fugitive Unit which led to the arrest.

The investigation also revealed the purchase of a BMW 640i by Adams with the victim's ID.

"There's victims of fraud every day which is why we have an Economic Crimes Unit," said Cpl. Dave Jacobs with the Brevard County Sheriff's Office.

Jacobs added that the incident appears to be isolated and that there aren't likely to be any more victims locally.

Adams is currently being held in the Los Angeles County Jail awaiting extradition to Brevard County.
