Marcus Wesson Transferred to San Quentin

ABC Action News 30/August 2, 2005

Convicted mass murderer Marcus Wesson is no longer in Fresno County and has been transferred to a state prison.

The 58-year-old is now at his new home on death row at San Quentin State Prison.

Surrounded by tight security, Marcus Wesson was moved early Tuesday morning from his isolation cell at the Fresno County Jail.

Deputies photographed a handcuffed and leg shackled Wesson as he made his way to an awaiting vehicle.

He was dressed in a yellow jumpsuit, signifying he's a high profile inmate.

The 58-year-old was transported around 2:00am and arrived at San Quentin's death row around 5:15am on Tuesday.

Deputies describe him as "polite ... responsive and quiet," saying he said few words during the trip.

Wesson was found guilty of murdering his nine children in March of 2004. He was also convicted of sexually assaulting his daughters and nieces.

It will be a while before Wesson is assigned to a cell on death row. He will undergo a mental evaluation, which is expected to take at least a month. He also received a hair cut.
