Archbishop's sect sex lure

The Telegraph/September 9, 2002

Rome -- The Moonies lured a Zambian archbishop away from Rome with marriage to a member of the sect to try to create "a parallel Catholic Church" in Africa, the prelate claims.

In a book to be published later this month called Fished out of the Mud, Archbishop Emmanuel Milingo, 72, said he was to have headed an independent church in Africa.

Archbishop Milingo said he may have been brainwashed by the Moonies, as the Unification Church of the Rev Sun Myung Moon is known.

He admitted that after embracing the sect to the extent that he married a 43-year-old Korean member named Maria Sung , he found himself "on the edge of the abyss.

"It was all so strange," he said. "It was like a strange dream."
