Tameka converts Usher from Christianity to Scientology

Media Take Out/November 15, 2007

If you were wondering how Tameka Foster managed to land Usher - it may have come down to religion. MediaTakeOut.com has learned that since marrying Tameka Foster, R&B singer Usher has changed religion - from Christianity to Scientology.

According to reports, Tameka Foster is a devout Scientologist and now so is Usher. MediaTakeOut.com has discovered that the newlyweds intend for their new child to be a Scientologist as well. One source was quoted as saying, "Usher's in training [to become a Scientologist] ... He thinks it's important to raise his baby as a Scientologist."

And Usher has begun taking steps in his pursuit of Scientology. Last week, MediaTakeOut.com uncovered that he chaired a fundraiser for Scientology's controversial New York City Rescue Workers Detoxification Project. The Project claims to be able to detoxify Ground Zero rescue workers through the use of saunas, meditation and vitamins - instead of traditional medicine.

And that's not all. Usher also recently named Tom Cruise, Scientology's most outspoken ambassador, to the board of directors to his New Look Foundation. The Foundation assists underserved communities around the country through social programs.

Scientology is a body of beliefs and related practices initially developed by L. Ron Hubbard in 1952 as an outgrowth of his earlier self-help system, Dianetics. Many journalists, courts and the governing bodies of several countries have stated that the Church of Scientology is a cult. Similarly, former members of The Church allege that it exhibits mind controlling measures on its members.
