Mumbai: Shifu Sunkruti cult leader Kulkarni booked for cheating

Mumbai -- The Matunga police have registered a fresh First Information Report (FIR) against Shifu Sunkruti cult leader Sunil Kulkarni for cheating Ramani Ice-cream Company Private Limited to the tune of Rs 6.5 lakh on the pretext of promising a loan of Rs 20 crore to the company.

Ashok Awadh Ramani, the owner of Ramani Ice-cream company headquartered in Bhopal, in complaint said that Sunil Kulkarni had promised him to get a loan of Rs.20 crore for the expansion of Ramani ice-cream since he had excellent contacts in Mumbai. To facilitate the loan, Kulkarni demanded Rs 65 lakh from Ramani.

The complainant Ashok and his brother Vijay Ramani had met Kulkarni at a restaurant in Matunga in February to discuss the details of procurement of a loan and the payment of commission.

According to B.M. Kakad, Senior Police Inspector, Matunga police station, “An amount of Rs 6.5 lakh was paid to Kulkarni as commission. However, Kulkarni never got the loan sanctioned for Ramani.

The Matunga police registered a fresh FIR against Kulkarni for cheating (Section 420) and criminal breach of trust (Section 406) of the Indian Penal Code. They will arrest him again. Kulkarni is presently lodged at Arthur road jail in judicial custody until July 22.
