3 Aum members in alleged scam released for lack of proof

Kyodo News in Japan Today/July 16, 2003

NAGOYA -- Prosecutors on Wednesday released three members of the Aum Shinrikyo religious group who had been arrested on suspicion of unlicensed medical practice in Aichi Prefecture, because there was not enough evidence to indict them.

The three allegedly provided medical treatment for atopy by using yoga techniques to a man whom they met through an Internet site, although they did not have medical licenses. They were arrested June 25 for violating the Medical Practitioners Law.
