Pastor Charged With Raping, Impregnating Girl In His Church

Hartford — A city pastor has been charged with sexually assaulting and impregnating an 11-year-old girl in his church, police said. Modesto Reyes, 52, was arrested Wednesday at his Hartford home. He was charged with four counts each of first-degree sexual assault, second-degree sexual assault and risk of injury to a minor. Reyes is accused of raping the girl several times inside the Inglesia De Dios Cristo Te Llama church, where he is the pastor, police said. The girl, who is now 12, gave birth in May and DNA testing confirmed that Reyes is the child's biological father, police said. Reyes remained in custody Thursday on $750,000 bond, police said.
