Judge lets state take seven more House of Prayer children

Atlanta Journal-Constitution/May 7, 2001
By Alan Judd

A judge today ordered the seizure of seven children from House of Prayer parents who refused to renounce the disciplinary practices of their church.

Six other children will remain with their parents. And a deicision on custody of the Rev. Arthur Allen Jr.'s six children was delayed until May 16.

Before Judge George Blau of Fulton County Juvenile Court ruled, Charles Ogletree and his wife, Kim, refused to accept several conditions for caring for their children.

One of their children, 7-year-old Caleb, is among 42 House of Prayer children already seized by the state Division of Family and Children Services.
