Group of shadowy power-players with mind set on one-world control

Yet another study document published about the same time wrote of similarities and convergence between the Heritage Foundation and the institution of the Reverend Sun Myun Moon.

Recently, the Washington-based Heritage Foundation published a scathing attack on Malaysia, calling the country's economy "mostly unfree" in its 2001 Economic Freedom Index. Who or what is the Heritage Foundation? Like many power-players in Washington, the controllers of Heritage are almost invisible, seldom photographed. Nevertheless they are up there among the power elite.

But somewhere within the layers of Washington power-play, far- right thinking and Heritage's history, a few names keep cropping up. They include Paul Weyrich and Edwin Feulner, both founders of the think-tank organisation, the latter its present president.

Weyrich at one time was considered a powerful man in American politics. He co-founded Heritage in 1973 with funding from Joseph Coors of the Coors beer empire and Richard Mellon-Scaife, heir of the Carnegie-Mellon fortune.

There were other financiers of Heritage, including oil company Amoco, General Motors, Chase Manhattan Bank (through David Rockefeller) and Olin and Bradley, a right-wing foundation.

Weyrich served as president of Heritage Foundation until 1974 when he founded the Committee for the Survival of a Free Congress (which he later headed as the Free Congress Foundation).

Heritage guided the Reagan administration during its period of transition and Coors served in the former President's "Kitchen Cabinet". During its first year, the Reagan administration adopted fully two- thirds of the recommendations of Heritage's "Mandate for Leadership: Policy Management in a Conservative Administration".

Often, Heritage was referred to as a "shadow government". Although a number of its people served on the Reagan transition committee (including Feulner), none joined the administration full time.

Like other powerful foundations, it soon established quick access to the White House, no matter who was president. As noted by observers, politics in the US, no matter what party, is controlled by the super-rich, the large corporations and the international bankers.

Critics of such foundations also once observed that while these foundations were seemingly highly critical of the then communists, they shared a shadowy commonality in Washington and were in fact ready to merge one day for one-world control.

They wrote in several research papers that foundations such as Heritage were only out to destroy the sovereignty of nations, to put the wealth of the world into their own hands.

Indeed, Heritage has had a formidable influence on US policy since the Reagan administration.

Meanwhile, Weyrich is considered by many as a strong advocate of conservative revolution, an ideal very much along the lines of that advocated by Heritage - reclaiming the culture and promoting a so- called "second American Revolution".

These ideas alarmed Christian groups in the US as to his real intentions, especially when they dug into Weyrich's background, which led frighteningly to the Nazi.

Weyrich is a Melkite Greek Catholic whose personal background abounds with ties to Nazi collaborators and neo-fascist organisations which, many said, in turn criss-crossed with ties to the Central Intelligence Agency.

In the 1970s, Weyrich and Coors made appointments and set up political contacts on Capitol Hill for Franz Joseph Strauss, Bavarian head of state who helped emigre Nazi collaborators.

Another fascist, Roger Pearson, writer and organiser for the Nazi Northern League of northern Europe, joined the editorial board of Policy Review, the monthly Heritage publication in 1977.

Pearson was brought to the US in 1965 by Willis Carto, founder of the neo-fascist Institute for Historical Review (which denies the Holocaust) and the anti-Semitic Liberty Lobby, which publishes a weekly newspaper called The Spotlight.

Pearson left Heritage after a Washington Post expose of the racist/ fascist orientation of the World Anti-Communist League.

Weyrich was also said to have sponsored and worked closely with one Laszlo Pasztor, a convicted Austrian Nazi collaborator whose Coalitions of the Americas is housed as a subsidiary in the Free Congress Foundation, the political arm of Heritage Foundation and seen by many as a racist organisation.

Meanwhile, there was also a connection between Heritage and the Rev Sun Myung Moon (founder of the Moonies). This first appeared in a 1975 congressional investigation on the Korean Central Intelligence Agency (KCIA) activities in the US.

The report noted, "In 1975, Ed Feulner ... was introduced to KCIA station chief Kim Yung Hwan by Neil Salonen and Dan Feffernan of the Freedom Leadership foundation".

Salonen was head of Sun Myung Moon's Unification Church in the United States. The Freedom Leadership Foundation (FLF), a political arm of Moon's Unification network, was linked to the World Anti- Communist League.

In the early 1980s, the KCIA began making donations to Heritage Foundation. In turn, Heritage established an Asian Studies Centre.

The Wall Street Journal in an edition of August 1995 made reference to the Korea Foundation, one of Heritage's largest donors and an affiliate of the South Korean government, though it did not mention Moon.

"While Heritage has gotten most of its attention on domestic issues, it also has been an active proponent for an array of trade and other policies supported by South Korea and Taiwan."

"Such efforts, it says, reflects "the growing importance of the Asia- Pacific community".

"Heritage's Feulner himself has taken an active role in promoting South Korean issues in Congress through actions such as testifying before committees to promote the think-tank's pro-South Korea positions." Heritage also has communist connections, established rapidly after the historic meeting between Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev at the Geneva Summit. Feulner was appointed by Reagan as chairman of the US Advisory Commission on Public Diplomacy. The commission was, among others, responsible for expediting a signed Soviet-American Educational Exchange Agreement. At the same time, it was also noted that Weyrich once served as adviser to former Russian President Boris Yeltsin.

Both Feulner and Weyrich, together with other powerful and shadowy figures, have also at one time or another influenced the United Nations and they have been included in groups formed to reinvent the UN, supposedly to face the 21st century.

So in most vital positions, critics say one could always find the names of either Feulner, Weyrich or both. Observers said they were in fact organising a tight group representing a merger of left and right.

Their objective: The world. The vehicle: Several, probably including the Heritage Foundation.
