Austrian neo-Nazi gets jail term for Facebook posts
Agence France-Presse/June 27, 2013
An Austrian court on Thursday sentenced a 29-year-old neo-Nazi to 18 months in prison for posting pictures of Adolf Hitler, swastikas and other banned material on Facebook.
The man admitted uploading the images onto the social networking website but told the court in Feldkirch, western Austria that he was not aware that they could be seen by anyone and that he did not intend to glorify Nazism.
Wearing gloves to hide tattoos on his hands, he also admitted being active in the skinhead scene between 2000 and 2002. Investigators also found other banned material such as far-right music on his computer.
He remains free while considering whether to appeal the verdict.
