Machete wielded in attack

The South Coast Register (NSW, Australia)/March 2, 2005

Making a wrong move in Kooloona Drive, West Cambewarra, was just the start of problems for two 32-year-old men and their wives on Sunday night. The man claimed they had just made a wrong turn, and were reversing out of the entrance of the Order of St Charbel religious community when they were confronted by three men. One of these men was carrying a machete, and allegedly used it in an attack on the two men.

One man required stitches to his left hand, while the other received a deep laceration to his arm, and was taken to Shoalhaven Hospital where he required surgery on Monday.

Police inquiries have resulted in a 59 year old man from the religious community being charged with two counts of malicious wounding.

He has been bailed to appear Nowra local Court on April 4.
