Salt Lake City - Brigham City has paid $11,000 to settle a lawsuit over a picket ban at a Mormon temple.
The American Civil Liberties Union says it brokered the settlement that allows the non-denominational Main Street Church to distribute fliers outside a Mormon temple.
Brigham City attorney Richard Van Wagoner says the city paid $11,000 last week to compensate the ACLU for legal fees, but no damages.
Van Wagoner says the city rescinded a picket ordinance months ago and agreed to let the church demonstrate, but didn't finalize a court settlement until recently.
The Main Street Church says it was just pointing out differences between its Bible-based faith and that of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
