Mormon Church Visitor Comments

"I just wanted to write and let you know that I am very pleased with your website. I was researching some Marine Corps history and out of curiosity clicked on an unrelated link that took me to your site. I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and my inner alarm bells went off at the mention of the word 'cult' so I investigated to see what was said about my religion. I was very impressed with your treatment of us and while I did not agree with everything that was said and question some of the evidence, you were very fair and I was most impressed with your posting of our official website first, before your materials. Thank you for the excellent job you've done!"

"The Mormon Church has done nothing about my ex-husband's owed child support. Even though he is a returned missionary who had gone through the Temple, he has not paid child support for his four children in almost five years. Recently his wages were garnished, but he just quit his job. The church knows about his obligation to pay and I have spoken with his bishop. The church knows it's against the law not to pay child support, but they have done nothing to help me. I left my husband because he had sexual relations with my daughter. The church knew about that too. I have had it with men getting away with everything in the church. What about the children they leave behind? Don't church officials care about them? I was once a member, but I personally have decided not to go back. My children will make their own choice."

"I attend an ex-Mormon recovery site and I have found your information very helpful. In fact, I have sent others to your site for further information. Keep up the good work."

"I just wanted to set the record straight about the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. An article on your site stated that we are an 'offshoot' of the Mormons--actually it is just the opposite. When Joseph Smith was murdered, Brigham Young decided that he should be the head of the church. So Brigham Young took some followers [to Utah] and started what is now known as the 'LDS Mormon Church.'"
[Note: The son of Joseph Smith, apparently according to his father's wishes, led those who rejected Brigham Young's leadership and that group, which retained the Kirtland Temple, became known as the "Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints" RLDS].
