Fort Lauderdale - A Broward fortune teller, who police describe as a well-known scam-artist, will spend 18 months in prison, a Broward judge ordered Wednesday. Gina Marie Marks, 37, was already serving 18 months probation for swindling a woman out of nearly $300,000 when she was arrested in October.
Marks pleaded guilty Wednesday to grand theft, two counts of organized fraud and admitted to violating her probation. She also turned in a $400,000 check to partially repay her victims, according to The Sun Sentinel.
BSO deputies say Marks would convince her victims that she had special powers and could vanquish evil spirits from money.
The judge ruled that after Marks serves her prison sentence, she'll have to serve eight years of probation and repay her victims the remaining $103,679 she stole.
Marks, a 37-year-old mother of three, operated her psychic business out of Hollywood and Weston. She also goes by the name Regina Milbourne, which she used to co-author a book in 2006 called Miami Psychic: Confessions of a Confidante.
