Local, state and federal authorities confiscated a number of cars from an Albemarle County psychic business on Tuesday morning, but officials have not explained the apparent raid.
It happened at Readings by Catherine, a psychic readings business on Route 29 and Austin Drive in northern Albemarle County.
At least four cars were towed from the property on Tuesday morning. An assistant commonwealth's attorney from Albemarle County was also on scene with police officers and other authorities.
Tuesday afternoon, a man who was inside the building told a Newsplex crew he didn't want to comment because he was under federal investigation, but he said authorities didn't tell him why.
A spokesman from the U.S. attorney's office said there is no information to release regarding the apparent raid. Albemarle County Police referred questions to both the U.S. attorney for the Western District of Virginia and the Department of Homeland Security's Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
An ICE representative confirmed that his agency is the lead in the investigation, but declined to give further details.
Police initially blocked one northbound lane of Route 29 as the tow trucks removed cars from the property, but the lane was reopened shortly before noon.
