In time for Halloween: Psychic arrested over 'spiritual cleansing'

Mount Vernon, Washington -- A psychic had promised a "spiritual cleansing and destroying of evil energy," police said.

It cost money. 

Then more.

Police eventually arrested the psychic and jailed the 69-year-old woman on Monday.

Mount Vernon police said officers heard Sept, 20 from an Island County woman who had turned a large sum of money over to the psychic for her services. The psychic said the money would be returned when the job was done. But when the woman asked for her money, the psychic wanted more, police said.

The woman turned to a Florida private investigator who specializes in these sort of cases and was familiar with the psychic, police said, Mount Vernon police met with the private investigator and investigators from the Seattle Police Department on Oct. 6.
Detectives served a search warrant on the psychic's business on Monday and arrested her.
