Trial Date for Former Pastor Geronimo Aguilar Pushed Back

WRIC ABC 8 News, Virginia/October 7, 2014

Richmond, Virginia -- Texas judge has granted a continuance to the defense attorneys of Geronimo "Pastor G" Aguilar, pushing the trial date back to June.

In September, 8News learned that a trial date had been set for November. Aguilar is charged with 8 felony counts of sexual assault on two young girls in Tarrant County, Texas in the 1990s while he was their youth pastor.

Aguilar insists he is innocent of the charges against him.

Aguilar was one of seven religious leaders scheduled to preach at “Rush Hour to Calvary” at Cedar Street Baptist Church of God on April 18. But given the fact that Aguilar has been indicted on multiple charges of child sex abuse, Aguilar's inclusion in the panel didn't sit well with many members of the Richmond community. Aguilar stepped down from participating in the event.

Aguilar will stand trial in Texas on June 15. Stay with 8News for updates.
