Richmond, Virginia -- The troubled Richmond Outreach Center (ROC) Church announced a name change on Friday.

The Richmond-based church along Midlothian Turnpike will now be called “Celebration Church and Outreach Ministry.”

The church Board of Directors also says that board president Robert Rhoden will take over as a new transitional pastor. He has 22 years of experience as a pastor in Richmond.

The church came under fire in 2013 when its founder Geronimo Aguilar was arrested and charged with sexually assaulting two young girls in Texas. He eventually stepped down as pastor.

Aguilar’s sex abuse trial begins Monday. 8News anchor Kerri O’Brien will be in the courtroom.
