Fugitive NYC Skinhead Found Dead In Mexico

Bici Fled Six Years Ago While Waiting For Retrial

WNBC New York City/October 13, 2002

A member of a skinhead gang who was once one of the city's most wanted fugitives was found shot to death in Mexico.

Prosecutors say Easat Bici, 30, fled six years ago while awaiting retrial on murder charges.

Queens District Attorney Richard Brown says Bici and another man were found shot to death on Oct. 2 in a Tijuana apartment.

Mexican authorities said it appeared the shootings were drug related.

Brown said Bici and two other men were all members of a gang known as the Doc Martens Skinheads or Death Machine Skinheads.

They were convicted in 1991 of beating and stabbing 29-year-old Julio Rivera because he was gay.

Rivera's death became a major cause among gay and lesbian activists. The New York City Gay and Lesbian Anti-Violence Project had posted a $10,000 reward for information leading to Bici's arrest.

A message left with the group Saturday was not immediately returned.
