Russian skinheads jailed for murdering Vietnamese expat

A Russian court sentenced Thursday a gang of four thugs, charged with beating a Vietnamese expatriate to death, to a total of eleven and a half years imprisonment.

Four youths, allegedly belonging to a neo-nazi skinhead movement, received jail terms ranging from four and half to seven years.

They had been charged with barbarously assaulting Vietnamese-Russian Tran Ngoc Binh in a racially-motivated attack in April last year, the indictment said.

Binh died three days later due to critical wounds.

Earlier, the court trying another racial slaying of Vietnamese student Vu Anh Tuan, who had been killed by 37 stab wounds, had also opened last October.

But much to the chagrin of Vietnamese people, the court decided to acquit 17 defendants involved, leaving agencies from both countries to launch an appeal to the Supreme Court.
