Associated Press/April 9, 2009

Athens, Texas - The aunt of infamous Branch Davidian sect leader David Koresh has been indicted on a murder charge in Texas in the stabbing death of her older sister, Koresh's mother.

The Athens Daily Review and Tyler Morning Telegraph report that a Henderson County grand jury returned the indictment against 54-year-old Beverly Clark on Tuesday.

Clark is accused in the January death of 60-year-old Bonnie Clark Halderman. Authorities responding to a 911 call found Halderman in Clark's home near Chandler, about 175 miles north of Houston.

Clark remains jailed. Her attorney didn't immediately return a phone call seeking comment.

In 1993, Koresh and dozens of followers died when their standoff with authorities ended in a fire that consumed their Waco compound.
