Police: Attempts to recruit haredim unsuccessful

Ynet News, Israel/November 9, 2010

Police have been trying to recruit the ultra-Orthodox population to its services, but has been unsuccessful, said the Special Populations Department Head Chief Superintendent Yael Amar during a conference in Sederot.

"The Israeli police have specific plans and willingness to recruit haredim to their services, but there is no response out in the field and no readiness on their part to integrate, even though spots have been opened specifically for them. Maybe the only way to encourage them to work is by recruiting the help of rabbis and raising awareness in the community," said Amar.
