CHICAGO, Oct. 14 1999 /PRNewswire/ -- If you see six British lads in neon yellow suits, playing music that produces an irresistible urge to dance, it's not a flashback to the 30's and 40's. It's the Jive Aces, UK's top jump jive band, swinging across the country to wind up their 20-city tour with an encore performance at Daley Plaza in Chicago on the 18th of October, when Norma Miller, the "Queen of Swing" and one of the original Lindy Hoppers, will join them with a special guest appearance.
Called "The best! Explosive!" by the Supper Club in New York, the band has been rockin' cities across the country with their energetic -- at times gymnastic -- musical performances. The Jive Aces, all Scientologists, are also known for promoting the works of L. Ron Hubbard to which they attribute their phenomenal success. This tour which highlights the book What Is Scientology?, also keeps their audiences jumpin' to songs from their latest CD, "Planet Jive."
Dubbed the most traveled swing band in the world, the Jive Aces have played at countless major events and venues such as the Cannes Film Festival -- where they were the official festival band -- the Lord Mayor of London's Spectacular, the Cork International Jazz Festival in Ireland and the International Lindy Hop Festival in Norway.
In the States, their performances have included the House of Blues, the Apollo Theater in Harlem, and the Derby in Los Angeles. They have also been featured on MTV, in US Magazine and are cast in an upcoming Kirstie Alley movie entitled "The Mao Game."
In addition to being UK's top swing band, the Jive Aces actually helped to start the resurgence of swing music in Great Britain. Before the musical craze took over, the band members were swing dancers. But they stopped dancing to start their own band when they found that other groups at the time were just not lively enough. The rest is history -- jumpin' swingin' history.
