New Hartford, New York -- The church where two teenage boys were severely beaten and one was killed reopened Tuesday.
The Word of Life Christian Church has been the center of controversy since the incident last October. Last month, the town of New Hartford issued a show-cause order, which closed the church and forced all members to vacate the property. According to court documents, town officials argue the church is a public nuisance.
However, the town's attorney said that order has been withdrawn for procedural reasons. Town officials said they still intend to pursue litigation against the church, but until the procedural issues are dealt with, the church has temporarily reopened.
Several of the church members are also facing murder charges and are expected to be back in court next week.
