Associated Press/October 28, 2009

Texarkana - A couple that's a member of Tony Alamo Christian Ministries failed to show up for a court hearing on the custody of their children.

A court official says the parents did not arrive for Tuesday's scheduled hearing in the Miller County Juvenile Justice Center. The Department of Human Services filed a petition to remove the couple's 4-month-old son on Sept. 18. The hearing was to address the petition and custody of the couple's four other children who range from 1- to 7-years-old.

The older children were taken into DHS custody last November. Tony Alamo was convicted in July on federal charges of taking young girls across state lines for sex. Sentencing is set for Nov. 13 with Alamo facing up to 175 years in prison.
