Texarkana, Arkansas - Convicted evangelist Tony Alamo is appealing to the U.S. Supreme Court the result of a civil lawsuit that orders him to pay millions of dollars to two men.

Alamo was ordered to pay Seth Calagna and Spencer Ondrisek $33 million each after a federal jury in Texarkana found him guilty of abusing the two when they were children being raised in Alamo's ministry. The amount was reduced to $15 million each by the 8the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.

The Texarkana Gazette reported Saturday that Alamo's attorneys filed the appeal Thursday after the appeals court in November refused to reconsider the case.

The 78-year-old Alamo is currently serving a 175-year sentence after being convicted in 2009 of bringing young girls across state lines for sex.
