Vandals Strike Home Near Proposed Shopping Site

NBC 30 Connecticut News/July 2, 2003

South Windsor, Conn. -- Neighbors in a South Windsor neighborhood are concerned that an act of vandalism might be a sign of more problems.

A developer said he was showing a new home to a prospective buyer Tuesday morning when he noticed the initials "E.L.F." had been spray painted on the house. The word "No Sprawl" was sprayed on another side of the house.

Earth Liberation Front, a group of environmental activists, often uses the initials. The group claimed responsibility for a 1998 fire that destroyed a ski lodge in Vail, Colo.

The vandalized home is near 230 acres of land tied a proposed shopping plaza -- the Evergreen Walk Project.
