Ashtabula, Ohio -- A man convicted of killing his estranged wife will spend life in prison with the possibility for parole in 28 years.

Ralph Clark pleaded guilty to killing his wife, Carolyn Clark, in May.

Carolyn Clark was beaten to death when she attempted to leave her husband's church, which she claimed was a cult.

In an affidavit, Carolyn Clark, a member of the Apostolic Faith Church, claimed numerous incidents of sexual abuse, child abuse and cult-like behavior.

Before her death, Clark said her husband was under control of the church and that she feared for the safety of her children.
