Ashtabula Residents Demand Answers in Alleged Cult Murder

Ashtabula, Ohio - Ashtabula residents gathered at a local church to demand an in-depth investigation into an alleged cult's involvement in a woman's death, NewsChannel5 reported.

On Monday at the Hiawatha Church of God in Christ, residents said they believe county prosecutors are not fully investigating the death of Carolyn Clark, who was murdered in May, WEWS reported.

Neighbors believe the death was connected to what they allege is a cult-like organization operating out of a Apostolic Faith Church. They said the church's members and leaders should be investigated.

"We need a special prosecutor, we need special investigators," said Adam Holman of the NAACP, adding "this is a very serious matter."

Ralph Clark, the victim's husband, is charged in the slaying.

In an affidavit, the victim, a member of the Apostolic Faith Church, claimed numerous incidents of sexual abuse, child abuse and cult-like behavior.

Before her death, Clark said her husband was under control of the church and that she feared for the safety of her children.

In a news release, the prosecutor said the sheriff's office has followed up on every credible lead.

The church has denied the allegations in the case.
