Shocking reports of more Fraser Coast residents trapped inside a Maryborough church for fear they will lose their families and "salvation" if they leave emerged at the weekend.
It is believed one prominent businessman in particular has been battling with the idea of leaving the Maryborough Christian Fellowship since his daughter was ex-communicated for dating outside the "family" but is worried he will be separated from his wife if he leaves.
The rumours have been circulating the region since brave former members Helen Pomery, the wife of former Maryborough doctor Graham Pomery, a Maryborough man and a teacher revealed the church they call a cult had a devastating effect on their lives.
