Christopher Raymond Olague, Pastor Accused of Molesting Girl, 8, and Having Child Porn That Included Female Relative, 6, Pleads Not Guilty

Orange Counter Register/December 5, 2011

Church pastor Christopher Raymond Olague pleaded not guilty at his arraignment last week to molesting an 8-year-old girl who was allegedly paid $40 not to say anything about being victimized and having child pornography on his computer that included a 6-year-old female relative. At the time of Olague's original arrest by Huntington Beach Police in October, the 31-year-old was identified as the head pastor of Refuge Southland Calvary Chapel in Buena Park, but "Calvary Chapel" has since been dropped from the name on the church website (although not the home page tag).

He was arrested Oct. 8 after picking the 8-year-old girl up with the stated purpose of driving her to his Westminster home for a playdate with one of his five daughters. Instead, police say, he drove the girl to a Huntington Beach grocery store parking lot. While still inside his vehicle, he allegedly rubbed her legs, thighs and arms; unbuttoned his pants and pulled them down slightly; and asked her to kiss him on the cheek.

Olaque, who was also an AYSO soccer coach, is accused of giving the girl $40 not to say anything and dropping her back off at her home. If true, it was the perfect crime--until the little girl told her mother. Mom then called police.

Investigators later served a search warrant of Olague's home that produced the computer said to have child porn that included the 6-year-old girl relative as a victim. Prosecutors say "graphic, sexually explicit child pornography images" were on the pastor's computer.

As a result of the increased charges, the pastor, who had made his original $100,000 bond, was taken back into custody in lieu of $1 million bail. The formal charges are: two felony counts of lewd acts on a child under 14, one felony count each of kidnapping for child molest, attempting to dissuade a witness, using a minor for sex acts, and possession and control of child pornography. He also faces sentencing enhancement allegations for kidnapping in the commission of a sexual assault and lewd acts against multiple victims.

If convicted, the husband of a fellow pastor could serve more than 43 years in state prison.
