Lafayette pastor charged with voyeurism, camera found in bathroom

Lafayette Journal & Courier, Indiana/May 14, 2012

Tippecanoe County officials said Monday that a Lafayette pastor is facing a possible felony charge after being arrested last week.

Robert Lyzenga was arrested Thursday on a preliminary charge of voyeurism, using camera or video equipment, according to Tippecanoe County jail officials.

On April 22, a call from a member of Sunrise Christian Reformed Church reported a suspicious device located inside a restroom, Tippecanoe County Sheriff Tracy Brown said.

After conducting an investigation, deputies seized the device and arrested Lyzenga. He was booked into the county jail at 6:13 p.m. Thursday.

Lyzenga posted a $5,000 surety bond about two hours later.

Brown said the investigation is ongoing and anyone with information or inquiries can contact Detective Robert Goldsmith at the Tippecanoe County Sheriff's Office.

Calls to the church went unanswered. Their website is no longer online.
