Hearing to begin in clergy sex abuse trial

TV3, New Zealand/September 5, 2007

A depositions hearing is set to begin in Christchurch today for one of two Catholic clergymen facing historic sexual abuse allegations.

71-year-old Brother Rodger Moloney and 59-year-old Father Raymond Garchow are charged with abusing boys in their care at Marylands St. John of God school in the 1970s and 1980s.

Garchow and Moloney were extradited from Australia in October last year to face the charges.

Moloney's deposition hearing has been set down for today and tomorrow - depositions will be heard for Garchow next week.
