The homes have numerous code violations.
A Tampa church says it will reopen homes for the homeless soon.
Deeper Life Ministries is working to get several of its houses up to city code requirements.
The church met its first deadline Sunday and hopes to re-open at least one of the homes by the end of the week.
Inspectors told Bay News 9 six of the homes had problems with everything from bugs and rodents to structural and electrical issues.
Residents of the homes had to move out until repairs are finished.
For now the homeless people who were living there are staying in the church basement and nearby motels.
Code enforcement officers say they'll reinspect the homes once the repair work is finished.
