A Sunshine Coast mum fears her two young children are in danger of being brainwashed by a man claiming to be Jesus.
Natasha Thomas's estranged husband Dion has spent two years on and off living with Alan Miller and "Mary Magdalene" on a property at Kingaroy and now wants his kids to join him.
Miller, who believes he is the "messiah", has been compared to the mass-murdering US cult leader David Koresh.
Natasha said she had been in the process of splitting up the marital assets, but since joining the cult, her husband Dion was using the finances for leverage for the children.
"While he is involved in this cult I am not willing to sign anything that could jeopardise the safety of my children," she said.
This week she also received heartbreaking news that the business she had been planning to buy for the past two years, Costume Fever, was being forced to close on Monday.
Natasha did not have the money to buy it from the owner who is ill.
"I have just been waiting for the situation to be sorted, but Dion won't give me the money I need to buy the shop," Natasha said.
Dion responded to the allegations of him withholding money, by saying the money had not been divided as no agreement had been reached.
"What she proposed wasn't what we had agreed on. It wasn't fair," he said.
"It has just been drawn out. I would have been happy to deal with it two years ago."
As for the claims he had joined a cult, he said the choice to move in with the religious group was made to be around like-minded people.
"I'm not interested in whether he is Jesus or not. It is about what he teaches," he said.
"It is all part of the self-help movement."
But Natasha said the number of people who had left the religious group and spoken out about the beliefs spoke for itself.
"This cult really alarms me and I do not want my kids to have any part of it, but their father has other plans," she said.
"He is so charismatic and smooth, people will believe anything he says. It is truly horrifying."
Miller did not return calls to the Daily yesterday.
A media statement on Miller's website defends his beliefs.
