Sect member found hanged

Sandakan -- A member of a Japanese sect, whose members believe that they have special powers to cure illnesses, was found hanged in his house on Sunday.

Wong Yun Phin, 48, a plumber, was found in the storeroom of his house by his 85 year-old mother Lui Kui Koi when she returned from the market at about 9am.

Family members found an unsigned note, thanking them for all their help.

Wong, who had complained of headaches and abdominal pains, wrote that he wished to discharge himself from family duties to be with God.

His remains were sent to the Duchess of Kent hospital for post mortem.
